Topic: Product & Installation Information / Installation Under Ditra/Kerdi Seams Seth, thanks for the info when I called on getting the floor warmer. I have a natural slate floor over Ditra and setting the temp to 85 was ok but kicking it up to 90 really made a difference in the surface temperature of the floor, not hot, buy very comfortable now. I’m going to try to insulate a few joist spaces in the floor below (it’s a heated room below) to see if that helps any more. The floor is installed on 2 layers of 3/4” plywood. Bob |

Topic: Product & Installation Information / Installation Under Ditra/Kerdi Seams Thanks Seth, I appreciate the response and yes, that does answer my question. I’m on to setting the stone tonight! btw – this was my first heat mat installation and it was pretty easy. I appreciated how the mat laid pretty flat to the floor, it made it much easier. I ended up skim coating the mats with Versabond Flex modified thinset and letting it dry, then the Ditra a few days later. Bob |

Topic: Product & Installation Information / Installation Under Ditra/Kerdi Seams I have my heat mats installed under the Ditra and I understand that the Ditra only slightly slows the heat up process of the floor, after that it’s fine. My Question is, where I seal the Ditra seams with Kerdiband, will that affect the heat in those areas? I don’t want cold spots where the Kerdiband is installed and it happens to be in the middle of my floor. I don’t know if the band will act as a thermo barrier. I haven’t started to lay the stone yet so I can pull up the band if necessary. Thanks |
