My installer mentioned that we should add insulation over the slab before installing WarmlyYours radiant floor heating.

What type of insulation do you recommend?
Thanks

Joe

Hello Joe,

Welcome to the NEW WarmlyYours forum.

For these sorts of situations, we always suggest utilizing some sort of underlayment in order to insulate the slab from acting as a massive heat sink and pulling all of the heat down into the slab. Cork underlayment provides a good solution at a reasonable cost.

You would probably wish to go with at least 1/4’ think cork underlayment to properly insulate the slab. Cork underlayment can be purchased through Cork Direct, http://corkdirect.com/underlayment.html.

See below for costs and sizes from their website:

1/4” x 24” x 36” – 6 sq. ft. per sheet Box of 50 sheets, 300 sq. ft.: $195.00 ($0.65 sq. ft.)

1/4” x 4’ x 50’ – 200 sq. ft. per roll 1 – 5 rolls: $130.00 per 200 sq. ft. roll ($0.65 sq. ft.)

Feel free to email or fax us a plan for a free design layout and quotation to 1-800-408-1100, or do not hesitate to call us 1-800-875-5285.

Hope this helps!

WarmlyYours,

Nicolas
