We have been reviewing the electric radiant options out there for one of our customers and have run across people experiencing failures after about five years. How long have you been in business and what type of failures have you encountered.

Karl,

We have been in business for about 13 years. I would say that around 99% of the calls we get regarding a non-functioning system can be traced back to an installation error. The actual rate of product failure in our heating systems is less than 1%.

In the event that a system is defective from the factory. WarmlyYours carries a 10 year warranty that will cover product replacement, any flooring that may need to be pulled up, and the labor cost for the work.

What percentage of the systems installed have failed over those 13 years, and what’s the most common installation error?

Paul,

I don’t have an exact percentage for you as of now. I will have to track down our product development team to see if I can get exact numbers. Last I asked them, I was told less then 1%.

As far as the most common installation error goes, the majority of troubleshooting calls that I get are related to cutting the heating wire. If the wire is cut, either partially or completely, chances are very high that we will be able to locate and fix the trouble area.

I hope this information helps! If there is anything else I can do, please let me know.

Any recommendation to install a secondary floor sensor in case the primary goes bad. Assuming the installation is done properly, I think this is the only thing that could the go bad. While I think the 10 yr warranty sounds great, I questionr how quickly payment for replacing the a floor and labor would be reimbursed-if at all, not to mention the hassle-so just looking to take the necessary precautions.

Thanks.

JT,

A secondary sensor is always a nice insurance plan. Just install the second sensor in the floor and pull the wires into the box in your wall, in the event that the first sensor goes bad, you can simply swap wires.

If an issue with the system is determined to be a warranty issue, reimbursement should be expected within a months time (once the appropriate invoices have been provided to us). If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly at 800.875.5285
